Thankful

That it's over, and we will be heading home on Monday.

Today we ate the last of the turkey for lunch.  This year, I bought two little frozen turkey breasts and a ham.  It was just right.  We had Thanksgiving dinner and a few more little meals, and it's gone.  No messy carcass to deal with, no worries about the roasting pan being too small.  They were just right with two exceptions.  The carcass would have made a good broth for soup, and there was no skin on the breasts.  But they were great!

The house is so quiet.  Five extra people and two more Boxers make for a lively house.  Clyde is still looking for his kids and girl friend dogs.

We had a great time.  Most of you know the family (minus me) are hunters.  We love venison.  It is not so much for the racks, although G got his first 10 point.  The eldest grandchildren hunted for the first time.  G took them out, and both were successful  Katie's was a 9 point buck and Reagan got a good sized spike.  His was most important - got it out of the breeding stock.

The weather has turned really nasty.  Up to Thanksgiving day, it was hot.  Thanksgiving was still rather hot, but rainy.  Friday was cold and rainy with the possibility of flooding, so they left on Friday,   That was probably best - otherwise the kids were going to be cabin crazy, and we would have three wet dogs most of the time.

All in all, it was a good time.
